Last Lines

These are my short responses to the given italicized prompts.

“There’s an unrequited love, but written from the perspective of the person who didn’t love them back'“

But I think I knew deep down that I always loved her, in every way but the one that mattered.

“About your father’

Despite all of my faults, my mistakes, the unnecessary drama I brought into his life, my father continues to stand by my side as my biggest supporter. In doing everything I could to succeed and make him proud, all I needed to do was be happy.

“I thought healing would feel like sunlight…”

…but I was wrong. It’s grueling, and slow, and painful. Even on the hardest days, when the wounds reopen, when you have to stitch yourself together again, you’re forced to remember how much it hurt the first time. It’s not painless, but it does get easier. And someday, somewhere down the line, the only reminder will be the scar that formed, and faded. It will be the only proof the pain was ever there and that you survived.

“The hero is bleeding out under a tree watching as the village celebrates his victory”

For a moment, the world suddenly felt brighter, happier than it had in a century. Sam smiled as he closed his eyes, and hummed the familiar tune. And in the distance he could have sworn he heard her singing.

“A betrayal of allies occurs”

Flynn stood there unmoving, his eyes cast downward, refusing to meet his friends’ gazes.

“Was any of it true? Or was it always a game to you?” Kieran whispered, as if his words were a prayer. His eyes hardened and his face contorted. “Answer me!”

For a moment, Flynn brought himself to look at his friend, only to see the angry tears welled in his eyes. “It wasn’t suppose to end like this,” Flynn said softly. “I hope someday you’ll come to forgive me.”

“The main character has just accepted that they have become the villain”

She turned to face her friends, watching them shrank back in terror realizing what she had just done. Lynn’s mouth twisted into a smile, the tension in her chest releasing with a snap as she let loose a laugh that resembled something closer to an animal’s cry.
